News Doyle Sails come out on top at 2017 Sail Port Stephens

17 Apr 2017

The 2017 Sail Port Stephens race week was yet another successful feat for Doyle sails. 112 boats made their way from South Australia, Victoria, Queensland to Port Stephens over a week long regatta that was divided into two events. Many stated that the weather was close to perfection with ample sunshine and wind conditions up to 16 knots.

Sam Haynes' TP52, Celestial, pulled through with 2nd place in Division 1 for the NSW IRC Championship which was a significant improvement from their disappointing Australian IRC championship result having chosen to use the new Doyle Offshore jibs that were built for the Rolex Sydney to Hobart Race. Newcastle based Beneteau 40.7 Schouten Passage came in a close 3rd.

In Performance Cruising, Escape took 1st place and Solutions took 2nd in Division 1. Anger Management swooped in with 2nd place in Division 1 under Performance Racing.

There was a great Doyle presence during the week with a couple of our own participating in the race. Scott Francis was sail trimmer for Celestial and Peter McNeil crewed on Ignition. It was especially beneficial to have Doyle Sails Sydney owner, Shane Guanaria, lending support to clients by helping them set up and sail trim.
